Basement Transformation

In this project, the clients wanted to adapt their under-utilized basement for various recreational functions including a wine cellar, hot tub, bathroom, and exercise room. However they were seeking a more sophisticated subterranean environment than the usual basement “rec room”.

The wine cellar, one aspect of this renovation, was designed for the client’s growing collection of over 2,000 bottles of wine. The new structure resembles a large wooden wine cask in which one is symbolically and literally enveloped by wine.
