Viets Tavern
Master Plan
The Viets Tavern dates back to 1760, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Over the years, the property has functioned as an inn, tavern, and farm, always in conjunction with the Old Newgate Prison located directly across the road. The building is now the property of the State of Connecticut, Museums Division of the Department of Culture, Tourism, and Film.
Our firm performed a comprehensive facilities assessment of the property in 2003, which included detailed doc-umentation of the structure with plans, elevations, sections, and digital photographs. Additionally, the assessment incorporated inspections and reports by structural and mechanical engineers, analysis of the physical condition of all components of the building, recommendations for maintenance and repair, and a code compliance report to guide future planning.
