Greenfield Commons

Developed by Mutual Housing of Southwestern Connecticut, Greenfield Commons contains ten 600 square foot, one‐bedroom apartments for low‐income seniors. The corner site, at the intersection of Greenfield Street and Villa Avenue, straddles a commercial street and residential neighborhood made up of two and three story older homes. Although the single‐story building has a footprint of almost 8,000 square feet, the design’s steep gables and exterior of clapboard and shingle fit appropriately into a neighborhood of smaller houses. Parking is not visible from the corner by being located along the side lot line. Besides the apartments, the building includes a lobby, common room, laundry room, office, and basement mechanical room.
