This extensive renovation transformed a homeless shelter into a Housing Navigation Center, providing solutions through supportive housing. This new focus offers the opportunity to develop pathways to permanent housing, income, improved healthcare and stability. The renovation included modernization of the existing shelter spaces, the addition of handicap accessibility and new spaces for medical and behavioral health services, employment specialists and a job developer.

The gut renovation upgraded and expanded the basement shelter area, added new mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, energy-efficient lighting and HVAC, modernized accessible bathrooms with individual showers, and a commercial kitchen.

The main floor of the building – the former nave and sanctuary of the church – received special attention. The open space was largely preserved and creating several small “buildings within a building” structures. The conference room has glass ceiling panels to view the original frescoes. The historic lighting fixtures were restored and fitted with energy-efficient lamps, the original artworks were preserved and  original paint scheme was restored with a fresh coat.
