Neighborhood Music School

The Neighborhood Music School’s original Recital Hall, built in 1968, had become inadequate for the growing school’s needs. The hall was expanded by 50%, and acoustics and appearance were improved. The new space has a flexible “black box” type ceiling grid with theatrical style track lighting and an operable glass wall which provides a natural backdrop to performers and, in good weather, folds open to create a proscenium stage for outdoor concerts. Classroom, studio and office revisions, library expansions, window/door replacements, and fire protection, HVAC and electrical system upgrades were also included in the design.
