An 88-foot tall viewing platform, will provide vistas of the entire park and, potentially, Norwch Harbor, and, on a clear day, Long Island Sound   Situated at the high point of Chelsea Gardens, the Observatory, an 88-foot tall viewing platform, will provide vistas of the entire park and, potentially, Norwch Harbor, and, on a clear day, Long Island Sound beyond. Visitors will enter through an enclosed lobby structure and traverse up and down the Tower via a pair of stairways configured in a twisting double helix or by way of a large elevator with a front entrance and rear exit. The tower's massice canted red masonry base supports an airy and open Victorian metalwork platform enclosure with a blue metal sloping roof whose peak reaches over 125 feet high, thereby providing an iconographic image for Chelsea Gardens from inside and outside the park.
