| This proposed design creates 72 units of supportive housing for the current residents of The Hooker Hotel and other individuals in the Windham area who are under threat of homelessness. The site and building design are planned to create a sense of community for the potential residents. The use of several smaller buildings as opposed to one large imposing building provides the opportunity for interaction on a manageable scale. The design of the buildings makes use of residentially scaled features, including sloped shingle roofs, covered sitting porches, clapboard style siding, and double-hung divided light windows. These elements work to reduce the scale of the structures and to create a woodsy, shingle-style residential ambiance appropriate to the context of the site and neighborhood and complementary to the intent of the supportive housing function. | ||||||||||
