Developed by Mutual Housing of Southwestern Connecticut, Greenfield Commons contains ten 600 square foot, one bedroom apartments for low-income seniors. The corner site, at the intersection of Greenfield Street and Villa Avenue, straddles a commercial street and residential neighborhood made up of two and three-story older homes. Although the single story building has a footprint of almost 8,000 square feet, the design's steep gables and clapboard and shingle exterior fit appropriately into a neighborhood of smaller houses. The building also includes a lobby, common room, laundry room, office, and mechanical room, in addition to the apartments. |
