The Conger House originally stood facing Washington Park along with other elegant Victorian homes in a development laid out by Bridgeport’s prominent citizen, P.T. Barnum.  The building fell into disrepair and was renovated in the 1980s, but was vacant and vandalized again by the beginning of the 21st century.  This project rehabilitates the building for eight units of supportive housing.  The first floor includes meeting and office space for the support program.  Historic detail that remains from the original building is restored to once again make the Conger House a complement to the square and to its neighbors.
